Brittany Ritter Found Deceased in Indiana as Murder Investigation Continues

ELKHART, Ind. — The search for Brittany Ritter, a woman who had been reported missing from the Holland area, has ended in heartbreak after the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that she was found deceased in Indiana.

Authorities said Ritter was located in Elkhart, Indiana, and a murder investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office said it is working closely with law enforcement authorities in Elkhart as investigators continue examining the case.

“Because this remains an active investigation, no additional details are available for release at this time,” the sheriff’s office said.

Missing Person Search Ends in Tragedy

Ritter had last been known to be seen or heard from in the Holland area late Tuesday into early Wednesday, Sept. 1–2, 2026.

At the time she was reported missing, authorities said her family had been unable to reach her and was deeply concerned for her welfare. Investigators had asked the public for information that could help locate her.

The Lucas County Sheriff’s Office had described Ritter as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Authorities said she may have been traveling by bicycle.

What began as an urgent search for a missing loved one has now become a homicide investigation.
